Escalante Canyons Marathon

Escalante, UT

This breathtaking marathon course in southern Utah runs on a national Scenic Byway between the rustic towns of Boulder and Escalante. The course skirts millions of acres of slickrock and high range country, with vistas of the Boulder Mountains.

The Escalante Canyons Marathon is a challenging point-to-point race that runs on Scenic Byway 12 through the astounding slickrock country of southern Utah. The USATF-certified course starts in Boulder, UT (elev. 6675) and ends in Escalante, UT (elev. 5812).  The course is mostly downhill to Mile 13, where it crosses the Escalante River (elev. 5275).  The next five miles include some serious but magnificent uphill stretches.  Mile 18 (elev. 6200) marks the beginning of a gradual descent to the finish line in Escalante (elev. 5812).

There is no better destination race for those who cherish breathtaking vistas, true challenges, and the rural spirit.

And this year, for the first time, we will be pairing the marathon with a half marathon, which will run along the last half of the marathon course.  Although our focus is the marathon, we hope this will allow friends and family of marathoners to run a fantastic companion race.
